Cardiovascular Anesthesia
The Division of Cardiovascular Anesthesiology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center's Department of Anesthesiology manages anesthesia for a large spectrum of adult cardiac, major vascular, and interventional cardiology procedures.
The members of the cardiovascular division are all Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology (ACTA) ACGME fellowship-trained and National Board of Echocardiography diplomates or testamurs pending diplomate status. The division is dedicated to providing the highest quality patient care in a supportive environment for educating medical students, residents, and fellows. Our core faculty members have expertise in management of patients ranging from routine on and off-pump CABG surgeries, valve replacements and repairs, aortic surgery, ventricular assist device (VAD) placement, and heart transplants. We also preform transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) for structural heart cases including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), percutaneous mitral edge-to-edge repairs, placement of left atrial appendage occlusion devices, mechanical thrombectomies, and more.
Furthermore, as the only Level 1 one trauma center in the state, we frequently care for patients with major traumatic injuries of the thoracic aorta. At the University of Mississippi Medical Center, we strive to provide excellence in clinical care and comprehensive training to our residents, fellows, and students while achieving high patient satisfaction.
